Mokurai is built with the principle that a meditation app has no business knowing anything about you. This policy describes that, in plain language.

What we collect

Nothing. Mokurai does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on any server. There is no account system, no login, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no tracking, no telemetry of any kind.

What stays on your device

The app stores the following data only on your device:

• Your timer settings (rounds, zazen length, kinhin length, bell and han choices)
• Your local meditation session history (date, duration, completion status)

This information is never sent to us or to any third party. We have no servers and no way to access it. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

Permissions the app requests

• Notifications (optional): used only to play session-end and interval bells when the app is in the background. You can deny or revoke this in iOS Settings at any time. The app does not send marketing or promotional notifications.
• Audio playback in background: the app declares the iOS "audio" background mode so bells continue to play during a session. No microphone access is requested.

Third parties

Mokurai does not integrate any third-party SDKs that identify users, track behavior, or collect data. The app's open-source dependencies are listed in its source repository.

Children

The app is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes (e.g., to reflect new app functionality), the updated policy will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
